Jim Henri

Jim Henri is a self taught sculptor. His original interests in 18th & 19th century fine furniture reproduction demanded both advanced & disciplined wood carving skills. As these skills increased there was a direct correlation with the abandonment of furniture making and steady increase to focus on becoming an accomplished shipcarver. His shipcarving culminated with his largest piece being an Americana Bellamy style eagle over 12 feet in length. Around the time of the eagle?s creation, Jim took an introduction to stone carving course at Maine College of Art, and as in furniture making shipcarving was abandoned as was wood for stone. Now, while enjoying sculpture, Jim has always had an affection for letters and lettering. This, plus an overwhelming desire to excel at difficult tasks has led to his opening of his own lettercarving workshop in East Rochester, NH.
