SA 24: Creating Monotypes
Instructor:
Roger Goldenberg
Friday & Saturday, September 12 & 13, 10:00 - 4:00
Using water-based inks, participants will explore the monotype process- a combination of painting and printmaking- to create a one-of-a-kind image. Monotype is the most forgiving of the printmaking processes and allows for quick, direct experimentation with immediate results. Students will learn to prepare aluminum plates for printing, then explore additive, subtractive, stencil, ghost and chine colle' processes. Participants are encouraged to bring colorful textured scraps of paper to use in chine colle'. This printmaking shop is for beginners, but experienced artists are welcome.
(This series of printmaking workshops, a collaboration between Sanctuary Arts and Roger Goldenberg, are held at Roger's Button Factory studio in Portsmouth)
