
Mary Byrom is a professional artist with proficiency in several media. An accomplished designer, illustrator, and painter, she has an academic background in fine art. She studied classical art at Hampshire College, Smith College and the University of Massachusetts and plein air landscape painting with Scott L. Christensen. She paints from life, using the Alla Prima method of oil painting with a focus on plein air landscape painting. She has received awards for paintings, sculpture and packaging design, commissions for children's illustrations, and has participated in solo and groups shows in the United States and Europe. She is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators, and the College Art Association. When she is not painting in the Rocky Mountains, the Southwest, the White Mountains or along the New England seacoast, she maintains a studio and a home in North Berwick, Maine.
