SEASONAL ABSTRACTION
Tom Glover,
10 Weeks
Monday 9 – 12 January 29 – April 2
Tuition $300

Untitled by Tom Glover

We will explore the depths of winter through abstraction and follow the season right into spring. Work will come from each student's observations through each week, and source material can be from photos, sketches and memories. From your observations we will apply various techniques and ideas that come from abstract painting and abstract thought. Winter qualities of cold, wind, snow (etc.) will be used to create work. As we move into spring we will investigate our response to the warming, the melting, the growing and blooming of spring. Canvases will likely become more colorful, warmer, less barren and we will be able to follow a progression of thought, feeling and expression. It will be about the individual's process of experiencing the coming of spring and representing that transition through image making. Think of it as developing a visual expressive continuum. All media welcome that has color. We will try to complete one painting a week, so 11 X 14 or 16 X 20 are good sizes to work on. If several ideas strike you during the week I will not dissuade you from working on more than one painting each week.
