This beginning intensive will cover the use of basic hand tools and the primary techniques in making jewelry and metal objects. We will cover hot and cold connections, piercing, surface decoration, light forging, forming, and basic stone settings. We will also explore various ways of casting such as the use of cuttlebone and delft clay. Students are encouraged to create their own designs. Bring a sketchbook to class. More advanced students will receive one on one help in applying advanced techniques to their designs. The class will be a mixture of demonstrations, lectures, and studio time. $50 lab fee included in the tuition.
