SA 20 HAND CARVING: WOOD OR SOFT STONE with Antoinette Prien Schultze

Students will learn to visualize and trust what they see. Block out the object of choice in Wood/or Stone. Discuss materials, the wood and grain direction, balance, and gravity of the stone and wood. Work on finishing techniques gaining and understanding of each material. Students will need to purchase wood chisels and mallet, pine is supplied, or students can purchase another soft wood if a beginner. Stone carvers must bring there own stone. Beginners need alabaster or soap stone. This class takes place at Antoinette's sculpture studio in Eliot.
