This class will visit a different visually-exciting location each week, from gardens to beaches to downtown Portsmouth. We’ll draw and paint and ask ourselves: “Why is sketching outdoors so much fun?” “Why are my sketches so much more vibrant than my larger paintings?” “Why do the clouds move in just when I start to paint?” This class is for students at any level who want to explore new locations, try out new media, and learn the fundamentals of landscape. There will be demos in watercolor, pen & ink, and pencil, and on rainy days we’ll work indoors on basic technique and composition. Students are welcome to work in the media of their choice.
